elena volkova

Elena Volkova, Esq., is a founding member of Volkova Law Group, a Manhattan law firm that was established in 2011 to serve the legal needs of local businesses, non-profits, and families. For more than a decade, Elena has worked with a wide range of clients—from individuals, start-ups, charitable organizations, and family-run enterprises to financial institutions and other large corporations, representing industries as diverse as insurance, communications, mining and investment management.

Her expertise is as varied as her clients, who have relied on her knowledge and steady guidance to help them incorporate, raise financing, acquire and sell assets, negotiate complex service and underwriting agreements, and prepare corporate “best practices” policy documents.

Before starting her own practice, Elena was a capital markets associate, first at LeBoeuf Lamb then at Linklaters, two of the world’s leading international law firms. While at these firms, she advised multinational corporations and investment banks on equity and debt financing, corporate governance and mergers and acquisitions. For example, she served as counsel on a publishing company’s debt restructuring transactions, valued at $5 billion, and handled the $500 million initial public offering of a global insurer. Since establishing Volkova Law Group, she has been a consulting attorney for a jewelry giant, working on the company’s credit agreements, and a global bank, working on complex forward transactions.

Volkova’s track record, however, has not been limited to large-scale corporate deal-making. She’s done extensive pro bono work for non-profits, advising their boards on compliance issues, as well as helping underprivileged seniors with estate planning. Some of her most fulfilling professional experiences involve the work she’s done with family-owned companies, helping them grow their businesses and reduce their risk through better legal planning.

A graduate of Fordham Law School (JD, 2002), Volkova is an active member of In Good Company and the New York City Bar Association. She holds a BA in History and an MA in Political Science from Irkutsk State University in Irkutsk, Russia.
